With so many hand mixers and blenders on the market today, finding one that meet’s a consumer’s needs can be a challenge. Knowing what to look for in a blender or portable hand mixer can help one make the right choice and avoid buying a blender which just doesn’t do the job.

For casual use in a home kitchen, there are several inexpensive models and many will perform the basic duties but if you’re going to be regularly blending large volumes of foods which put a particular strain on the blender like hard vegetables and meats you would be advised to buy a higher grade blender.

Choosing a heavy duty model with industrial grade materials may not be necessary for everyday home use. For simple recipes and blended drinks, a standard blender from a reliable name brand manufacturer should be suitable. A plastic or glass jar should be suitable for causal use at home, although stainless steel might be better for commercial use, such as in restaurants. The stainless steel varieties are also very easy to clean.

Speed choice is another consideration. In general, the more speeds, the more options for various recipes. A 10-speed blender is considered typical for most home kitchens. Before buying any blender however, it’s essential to ensure it includes a manufacturer warranty. A blender can be an expensive appliance to repair, so look for a warranty to provide at least 90 days of coverage.

A hand mixer can blend, mix and chop, as well as be lightweight and portable. These are good choices for dorm rooms and those who like to take their blenders and mixers with them when traveling. Cheap mode;ls may break easily, so it’s important to buy a hand mixer that is constructed of durable parts. Parts should also be dishwasher safe for convenience.

Many hand mixers come packaged with accessories and attachments. This is convenient for many things. A mixing bowl or storage container are very useful accessories. Also look for an included whisk and nut chopper attachment. Ergonomically designed construction is important as well, as this can eliminate the risk of hand injuries due to stress on the joints.

Recipe booklets are often included with many styles of hand mixers and blenders. This may not be an important factor to some, although beginners may find these guides helpful. In addition, some of these kitchen appliances also come packaged with accessory bags. These bags are great for storing the items when traveling.
